Dance Showcase: Animethon 2024

Want to show off your dance skills on the big stage? Come join us as we celebrate idols of all sorts at our dance showcase. All dance groups showing off East Asian culture are welcome, whether it be Japanese idols, J-pop, or K-pop or something else entirely. We're excited to see you there!
Dance Showcase will take place in the Entertainment Hall (Hall C) on the Entertainment Stage on Friday August 9, 2024, starting at 2PM. Subject to change.
Dance Group Application Deadline: May 25, 2024 at 11:59PM Mountain Standard Time
- Group members may only participate in a maximum of two (2) groups during the showcase
- Groups bringing props to be used on stage will require an approval from the Dance Showcase Coordinator
- Musical instruments are only allowed as stage props, and will require an approval (see previous).
- Dance groups must ensure the stage is clean and free of obstruction after each group performance
Submission Process:
The deadline for dance submissions will be May 25, 2024 by 11:59 PM Mountain Standard Time.
- A confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided on your submission. You are responsible for reviewing this email and ensuring the submission is accurate.
- If any changes are required to your submission, please edit the Google Form copy that is sent to you.
- Should you have changes after the submission form is closed, please email Animethon Dance Showcase Staff by email (dance@animethon.org ) by June 1, 2024.
- A dance submission does not guarantee your performance will be accepted.
- An acceptance, waitlist, or rejection email will be sent to you within 10 business days after the submission deadline.
- Animethon has the right to change the details of your submission to ensure that we are able to provide a stage for as many submissions as possible. You will be notified if changes are made.
Scheduling:
- Dance groups will be scheduled successively
- Depending on the number of entries, groups will be given between 7-10 minutes in total to perform (measured by audio file duration)
- Groups will be scheduled based on individual conflicts
- All group members must be available for the entire duration of the event.
- If accepted, you will be contacted about the schedule and details of the showcase no later than June 22, 2024.
Music Submission:
Once you have received an acceptance email, you will be asked to provide your music files in advance. Please email the files to dance@animethon.org by June 22, 2024.
Accepted music formats: Spotify playlist ; Apple playlist ; MP3 files

Important Information:
- Dance showcase will take place in the Entertainment Hall (Hall C)
- The placement of the stage does not allow performers to loop behind the stage. Any position changes will have to take place on the stage.
- There is only one entry/exit point on the stage. The Dance Showcase Coordinator will provide details closer to the event.
- If you are participating in multiple groups and require an outfit change, please use the public washrooms outside in the foyer. There are no available areas for changing backstage.
- Dimensions of the elevated stage (subject to change) is 32’ wide x 12’ deep x 2’ tall
